One of our mistakes can lead to many physical problems and thyroid is one of them.
The thyroid is a ductless gland present in our neck, that secretes hormones responsible for metabolic activity in the body. Mainly there are three kinds of problems associated with Thyroid.
- Goiter- When the Thyroid gland enlarges
- Hyperthyroidism – When the gland secretes more thyroid hormones than needed.
- Hypothyroidism- Whan gland is not capable of secreting enough hormones
In the past few decades, thyroid problems have become common all over the world. Yogasanas are considered as one of the best methods to deal with this problem, Although these asanas can not eradicate thyroid problems instantly, performing these asanas on regular basis can be very helpful in controlling and regulating the metabolism of body.
Different Yogasanas that Can Be very Beneficial in controlling Thyroid problems
1. Sarvangasana –
Sarvangasana is considered one of the best asanas in the treatment of thyroid problems. In this asana, the body is turned upside down which increases the flow of blood towards the upper part of the body.
This yoga asana offers many benefits. It can help to stretch the whole body. also, it can also act to repair blood circulation in the neck area and stimulates the thyroid gland which can help the thyroid gland to function in a better way.
Caution: Those who have severe thyroid, high blood pressure problems, back pain, hernia, weakness, or injury to neck and shoulder should do this asana under the supervision of an instructor.
2. Bhujangasana –
The practice of bhujangasana causes slight pressure on the thyroid gland. This asana is considered to be very effective in removing the problem of the thyroid. Bhujangasana is the 8th of the 12 asanas of Surya Namaskar.
Bhujangasana can work as a massage in the thyroid gland, which may help to correct thyroid-related problems. This Yogasana is also called Sarpanasana, Cobra Asana, or Snake Mudra.
Caution: If someone has pain in hands and back, do not do this asana.
3. Kapalabhati –
Kapalabhati may prove to be the best pranayama for eradicating thyroid-related problems. According to scientific research, doing Kapalabhati Pranayama can help stimulate the thyroid gland and reduce fat which can relieve problems related to the thyroid.
4. Matsayasana –
During the practice of matsayasana, the body is in the posture of the fish. Matsayasana is called the opposite posture of Salamb Sarvangasana. This is much easier to do and can be done without any additional help. Performing this yoga may improve the blood circulation of the thyroid gland. It can also stimulate the thyroid gland by reducing the tension of the throat, which may help reduce thyroid problems.
Caution: If someone is suffering from a serious spinal disease, pain in the knees, hernia or ulcer, do not do this yoga practice at all.
5. Balasan –
This asana is very easy and also very beneficial. Balasan relaxes the muscles of the waist and removes constipation problems. it calms the mind as well as the nervous system. The use of this asana is considered beneficial for improving blood circulation and healing stress, as well as for the waist, back, and spine. This can also have a positive effect on the thyroid.
Caution: This yoga should not be done by pregnant women, patients with diarrhea, knee pain or injury, and a person with high blood pressure.
